Environmental
With increasing emphasis on respecting and conserving our environment, Albright has for many years been pro-active in keeping its environmental impact to a minimum. Protection of the environment is a key consideration for Albright and this is demonstrated by the environmentally conscious policies we implement across our activities from design through to production.
Our policies include enforcing across all sites the recycling of paper, recyclable and biodegradable packaging materials and waste segregation. In addition, throughout all of our factories and regardless of local market requirements, we maintain the key environmental standards required for ISO 14001 accreditation. Our Whitchurch facility was one of the first UK companies to obtain ISO 14001, and we have constantly maintained the requirements of this standard since we obtained it in April 2000. Furthermore, Albright International is compliant with the REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation & restriction of Chemicals) Directive and the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive ensuring removal of hazardous material from all products including, cadmium from silver tips and lead from solder.
We continually seek to improve our environmental credentials. Our subsidiary Albright Deutschland has installed a solar system to the office roof in order to supply the energy needs for the building and our recent investment in new premises and upgrades to sites, where possible, have been achieved with consideration to the environment.
Anti-Slavery
Albright values human rights and is committed to ensuring that all our business is conducted according to ethical, professional and legal standards in a fair, honest and open manner. To this end, we have implemented the Albright Anti-Slavery Policy which supports our obligation of preventing the risk of modern slavery occurring within our own business or infiltrating our supply chains or any other business relationship.
Our Anti-Slavery Policy will be used to underpin requirements of Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act (2015), as well as in accordance with Social Accountability SA8000.

SA8000
There has been an increase in the demand for companies to not only maintain and apply socially acceptable practices in the workplace, but to formalise these practices in the form of an internationally recognised, auditable certification. SA8000 is one such certification and one which is verifiable through an evidence based process with requirements which apply universally regardless of a company’s size, geographic location or industry sector.
The aim of SA8000 is to provide a standard based on international human rights norms and national labour laws that will protect and empower all personnel within a company’s scope of control and influence, who produce products or provide services for that company, including personnel employed by the company itself, as well as by its suppliers and subcontractors.
Albright China commenced its journey in late 2011 to reach SA8000 accreditation in 2012 not only to formalize its existing ethical practices but to also to make clear to its employees, customers and suppliers alike that ethical practices are the back bone of Albright wherever they may be.

Conflict Minerals Directive
Albright and all its subsidiaries are committed to supporting the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Regulation and Consumer Protection Act which aim is to eliminate conflict minerals originating from Eastern Region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) or adjoining countries. We have therefore taken steps to ensure suppliers of processes whereby columbite-tantalite (coltan), cassiterite, gold (Au), wolframite, or their derivative, including Tantalum (Ta), Tungsten (W) and Tin (Sn) have been assessed and declarations sought that show compliance to the Dodd-Frank act.

Apprenticeships
Albright sought the opportunity to invest in the Governments 2006 Young Apprentice Scheme believing this to be a positive initiative for both the company and the apprentice. With our implementation of the scheme the apprentices will have acquired engineering acumen and valuable manufacturing business experience, whilst Albright will benefit from having developed its own skilled engineers. They have the opportunity to look at all disciplines involved in Technical, Production Engineering, Quality Assurance and the Design Office.
