ML – Magnetic Latching Controller
All of the main ranges of Albright contactors are available as single pole magnetic latching contactors. One short pulse to set (close) the contactor and another pulse of opposite supply polarity to unset (open) it again.
The result is a bi-stable device that can be left in an open or closed state indefinitely with no power applied to or consumed by the coil. As there is no coil heating these contactors can be engineered with more powerful coils and springs than with conventional contactors.
Albright offers the ML range of controllers for customers requiring an alternating coil polarity drive unit.
CC74 PWM Coil Economiser Modules
The Albright Coil Economiser modules with Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) technology reduce continuous power dissipation of contactor coils.
The benefits are:
- Reduced coil heat dissipation
- Able to use a coil with intermittent power as standard
- Extends maximum voltage rating of coil
- Easy to use in new applications or for adapting existing ones
Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) technology is a common technique for coil economising in modern contactor applications. After an initial closing pulse, the module regulates the coil down to the specified power dissipation (around 20%).
